Care Information
LINEN CARE: Contrary to what you might think, linen is relatively easy to care for. However, like any textile product, it is best to follow the specific instructions for the fabric to extend its lifespan. This guide will help you take care of your linen pieces so you can keep them for longer.
MACHINE WASHING: Make sure to unfold the pieces completely before putting them in the washer. Avoid overloading the machine; linen needs space to move! It is preferable to use the delicate cycle with cold or lukewarm water. Use a mild detergent to preserve the linen fibers. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach, as they can alter the texture of the linen. A simple tablespoon of vinegar in the rinse cycle is a natural softener that can be used safely!
HAND WASHING: Fill a sink or container with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild soap. Submerge the linen pieces and let them soak for about ten minutes. Gently move the pieces in the water, without scrubbing. Remove the soapy water and rinse until there is no soap residue left. Do not wring the linen by twisting; remove excess water by pressing gently, then lay it out on a dry towel. Roll the towel up with the linen inside, and press the roll so that the towel absorbs the excess water.
DRYING LINEN: Air drying is preferred, whether outdoors or indoors. Smooth out the edges and hems with your fingers before hanging to dry. If you use a machine, remove the linen while it is still slightly damp. Do not use fabric softeners in the machine; these products cling to the linen fiber and alter its properties.
IRONING LINEN (OPTIONAL!): For best results, iron your linen while it is still damp. Set the iron to a high temperature with steam. Ironing dry linen at a high temperature risks damaging it. Do not use fabric softeners in the machine.
STORING LINEN: Ensure your linen is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold. Store in a well-ventilated, dry space away from sunlight. Avoid placing items in plastic bags or bins; use pillowcases or linen bags to store your linen.
REMOVING STAINS: Treat stains as quickly as possible! Heat sets stains. Do not use hot water or the dryer until the stain is gone, unless otherwise indicated. Rubbing the fabric can damage the fibers. Blot or rub gently when necessary.
